Segway's Return to Basics at CES 2025
At CES this year, Segway made a notable return to its roots, stepping away from the quirky self-balancing pods and paintball-shooting go-karts to focus on innovative and practical modes of transportation. Known primarily for its pioneering self-balancing scooters, Segway has now expanded its offerings with two new e-bikes as well as an updated lineup of high-performance kick scooters and a robot lawn mower.
The Highly Anticipated E-Bikes
After announcing its e-bikes last year, Segway has provided further insights regarding the Xyber and the Xafari. Set for release in the first quarter of 2025, both e-bikes will be available for presale starting January 7th, with open sales commencing on February 3rd.
1. The Xyber E-Bike
Positioned as the more aggressive e-bike, the Xyber aims to push the boundaries of e-bike design, featuring a motorcycle-like aesthetic. Priced at $2,999.99, the Xyber boasts a rear-mounted 750W motor capable of propelling riders to 20 mph in just 2.7 seconds. Although it is classified as an e-bike that caps at 20 mph in compliance with regulations, Segway hints at an off-road mode that could reach speeds beyond 28 mph in legally permissible areas.
2. The Xafari E-Bike
The Xafari, starting at $2,399.99, caters to traditional riders, offering a low-step frame and wide tires for unparalleled comfort. This e-bike features a 750W motor with a removable 936Wh battery, providing a range of up to 88 miles at a lower power setting. The AirLock system allows users to secure their bikes effortlessly using an app, enhancing convenience and innovation.
New Generation of Kick Scooters
Segway is also set to introduce its third-generation kick scooters, offering a range from entry-level models to high-performance super-scooters. The new GT3 Pro leads the segment with impressive specifications, including an acceleration of zero to 30 mph in just 3.9 seconds, a top speed of 49.7 mph, and a range of up to 86 miles on a single charge, powered by dual 3,500-watt motors.
Highlighting the SegRide System
The GT3 series features the SegRide enhancement system, aiming to tailor the ride experience through adjustable geometry and ergonomics. This focus on customizability is set to deliver maximum comfort for all riding styles.
Upgraded Robot Lawn Mowers: The Navimow X3
In addition to e-bikes and scooters, Segway is gearing up to release the Navimow X3 robot lawn mower in spring 2025. Designed for larger areas, the X3 can now cover 2.5 acres, integrating mowing and trimming functionalities. Enhanced AI capabilities allow it to recognize pets and integrate with smart home systems.
Conclusion
Segway’s CES 2025 lineup reflects its commitment to innovation in personal transportation solutions, marking a strategic shift back to where it began. With powerful e-bikes, groundbreaking kick scooters, and advanced robotic technology, Segway aims to elevate the user experience in urban commuting and home maintenance.
