Apple's new interface and features for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS in public beta.

Apple Releases Public Betas of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1

Apple has recently launched public betas for its latest operating systems: iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1. These updates introduce innovative features under the umbrella of Apple Intelligence.

What’s New in Apple Intelligence Features?

The upcoming versions include exciting functionalities such as:

  • Text Rewriting Tools: New tools that facilitate enhancing and editing text seamlessly.
  • Redesigned Siri: A visually appealing new look for Siri, enhancing user interaction and experience.
  • Clean Up Tool: An impressive feature that allows users to remove unwanted objects from photos with ease.

How to Access the Public Betas

To participate in the public betas, users need to register on Apple’s beta software program site. Upon registration, users can check for available beta updates in the device's settings for download and installation.

Device Compatibility for Apple Intelligence Features

It’s important to note that the new Apple Intelligence features are compatible with:

  • iPhones: The iPhone 15 Pro models from last year and the upcoming iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro.
  • iPads and Macs: Devices equipped with M1 chips or newer can also access these features.

Previous Testing of Features

Initially, these Apple Intelligence features were exclusively available in developer betas. My colleague Allison Johnson shared her insights about testing these tools on iOS back in July, providing a preview of what to expect from the upcoming release.

More Features on the Horizon

While the current public betas offer a glimpse of the new functionalities, it is essential to recognize that Apple has additional features on the way that have yet to be unveiled.

Release Timeline for Final Versions

Apple has confirmed that the final versions of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 will be officially released in October 2023. Keep an eye out for this date to access the complete suite of features.
