RD Technologies Raises $7.8 Million in Series A1 Funding Round

In a significant move for the Web3 ecosystem, RD Technologies has successfully raised $7.8 million in its Series A1 funding round. The investment lead came from prominent investors including Sequoia China, Hivemind Capital, Aptos Lab, Hash Global, SNZ Capital, Solana Foundation, Anagram, and Upward Capital. This investment is aimed at bridging the gap between Web2 and Web3 technologies, facilitating the development of the Web3 ecosystem in Hong Kong.

Focus on Bridging Web2 and Web3

The funds raised will be utilized to enhance the integration and functionality between existing Web2 platforms and new Web3 solutions. This initiative is part of RD Technologies' broader strategy to foster innovation and drive growth in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Involvement in HKMA's Sandbox Program

Earlier this year, on July 18, RD Technologies made headlines by announcing its subsidiary, RD Innovation Technology Co., Ltd., had been included in the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's (HKMA) sandbox program for stablecoin issuers. This sandbox allows companies to pilot their services in a controlled environment, ensuring compliance and risk management while testing innovative products.

Testing the Hong Kong Dollar Stablecoin

Within the HKMA sandbox, RD Technologies plans to test its operation plan for a Hong Kong dollar stablecoin. This is a crucial step for the company in establishing a reliable digital currency that aligns with local regulations and enhances the digital payment landscape in Hong Kong.

SVF License Acquisition

Additionally, another subsidiary, RD Wallet Technology Co., Ltd., has obtained a Stored Value Facility (SVF) license from the HKMA. This achievement allows the company to commence operations by the end of 2023, providing a credible and regulated platform for digital wallet services.

Conclusion

RD Technologies is making significant strides in the Web3 space with its recent funding and strategic partnerships. With the HKMA's support through its sandbox program, RD Technologies is well-positioned to accelerate the development of innovative financial technologies that cater to the needs of users in Hong Kong and beyond.
