According to Odaily, following the lawsuit against market maker Gotbit by the U.S. government, Beercoin and WaterCoin have clarified that they have replaced their market makers and currently have no association with Gotbit. Beercoin stated that it had ceased cooperation with Gotbit some time ago, while WaterCoin mentioned that it switched market makers after launching WATER due to doubts about Gotbit's integrity. However, community users have expressed skepticism about these claims. Previously, Lookonchain reported that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Department of Justice (DOJ) had filed charges against Gotbit and other cryptocurrency companies for alleged fraud and market manipulation. Gotbit had previously claimed that their sale of WATER tokens was intended to lower the price to a fair level, but their token sales significantly exceeded their purchases.
