Roborock Unveils the Saros Z70: The Future of Robotic Cleaning

Roborock has taken a significant leap in the world of robotic vacuums with the introduction of its latest flagship model, the Saros Z70. What sets this model apart is its innovative articulating robotic arm capable of picking up various small objects like socks and tissues while it cleans your floors.

The Articulating Arm: A Game Changer in Robotic Vacuums

The new arm, referred to as the OmniGrip, emerges from the robot's center and is designed to extend and twist in five different axes. This feature makes the Saros Z70 the first mass-produced foldable robotic arm in a robotic vacuum. Despite its potential, early demos show that the arm's performance is relatively slow — taking about a minute to pick up a sock.

Specifications and Capabilities of the OmniGrip Arm

  • Weight Limit: The arm can lift items weighing up to 300 grams, such as socks, tissues, and small towels.
  • Vision Technology: Equipped with a camera and LED light for object identification and navigation.
  • Cleaning Process: The Saros Z70 can detect and map its surroundings during the first cleaning run, marking objects for later removal.

Enhanced Navigation with StarSight Autonomous System 2.0

In addition to its lifting capabilities, the Saros Z70 features Roborock's StarSight Autonomous System 2.0. This advanced navigation system allows the robot to recognize up to 108 preprogrammed objects, enhancing its ability to navigate around your home efficiently. Users will even be able to train the vacuum to recognize specific items through an app.

Powerful Cleaning Features

The Saros Z70 boasts a suction power of 22,000Pa, paired with a dual anti-tangle system for its roller brushes. Other impressive features include:

  • Dual Spinning Mops: The mops are capable of lifting 2.2cm to avoid carpets and will detach automatically when not needed.
  • AdaptLift Chassis: This ensures the robot can navigate high-pile carpets and transition thresholds smoothly.

Multifunctionality with the New Dock

The Saros Z70 works in tandem with the Multifunctional Dock 4.0, which provides several advantages:

  • Automatic charging and emptying of dust bins.
  • Water tank refills and cleaning of mops with hot water and drying.
  • Fast 2.5-hour charging feature.

Additional Model Releases

Alongside the Saros Z70, Roborock introduced two other models: the Saros 10R and Saros 10. Scheduled for release on February 10th, both models feature a slimline design and advanced navigation technology. The key differences are:

  • Saros 10R: Same navigation and suction power as the Z70 but slightly less suction power (19,000Pa).
  • Saros 10: Upgraded mopping feature with VibraRise technology and Reactive AI Obstacle Avoidance 3.0.

Smart Home Integration

All three new models will support Matter 1.4, ensuring compatibility with various smart home platforms, including Alexa, Siri Shortcuts, and Google Home. This allows users to effortlessly integrate their robotic vacuums into their smart homes.

Final Thoughts

Roborock’s Saros Z70 shows promise with its innovative arm and advanced technology. While it may take longer to pick up items compared to manually doing so, the convenience of a robotic vacuum cleaning your space is undeniable. The Saros series will revolutionize how we think about home cleaning, making it smarter and more efficient.
