  • A Google Cloud account with billing enabled.
  • A Google Cloud project with the Vertex AI API activated.

Let's Get Started

To begin, navigate to the Generative AI Studio. Upon access, you'll find two primary sections: Language and Speech.

Language Section

Start by clicking on the Open button under the Language section. You'll be presented with two main areas: Get Started and Prompt Examples.

If your goal is to test models, you can utilize the Prompt Examples section. To create your own prompt, head to the Get Started area.

Creating a Custom Prompt

In the Get Started section, click on the + Text prompt button. Type Generate a couple of names for my dog and hit Submit. You should see generated names displayed accordingly.

Note: You can save your prompt by clicking the Save button, which will store it in the My Prompts tab.

Using Prompt Examples

Now, let’s explore the Prompt Examples. Scroll down to locate the Kindergarten Science Teacher card and click Open.

In this section, three key windows will appear: Context, Examples, and Responses:

  • Context: Here, you can specify how the model should respond. You may define word usage, focal topics, and response formats.
  • Examples: This aids the model in understanding how to formulate appropriate responses. You can write your own inputs and outputs or save real responses as examples.
  • Responses: This displays an interactive chat between you and the model, allowing you to continue the conversation.

Try asking: Why did you specifically choose these names?. Observe how the model converses.

Speech Section

Next, let's move on to the Speech section. Click on Open to access it.

Here, you'll encounter two tabs: Text-to-Speech and Speech-to-Text.

Converting Text to Speech

Begin with the Text-to-Speech tab. Enter Beginner friendly tutorial on how to use Generative AI Studio by Google. Sit back, relax, and let the AI do the work for you. and hit Submit. Wait a few moments as the AI processes your request, then press the Play button to hear the conversion. Remember to download the file by clicking the Download button.

Using Speech-to-Text

Now, let’s proceed to the Speech-to-Text tab. Click on the Browse button to upload the audio file you just downloaded. Allow a few seconds for processing, then hit Submit to view the results.
