Watch EFL Matches Live on Sky Sports: What You Need to Know
Sky Sports is set to bring more than 1,000 EFL matches to fans next season, increasing accessibility and viewing options for supporters. Here’s everything you need to know about watching your team live this upcoming season.
How Many Matches Will My Team Be Featured?
For the 2024/25 season, every League One and League Two team will have at least 20 matches broadcast live on Sky Sports. Furthermore, each of the 24 Championship clubs will be showcased live at least 24 times, ensuring that fans won't miss out on a moment of the action.
Where to Watch Your Team?
Fans can catch their team’s matches live across Sky Sports’ existing channels or through the new Sky Sports+ service. This new platform is introduced to provide broader coverage and will replace the traditional EFL domestic streaming options, such as iFollow.
What is Sky Sports+?
Launching in August, Sky Sports+ will enhance the viewing experience for fans. It’s integrated into Sky TV, the streaming service NOW, and the Sky Sports app, providing access to over 50% more live sports events without any additional subscription costs for existing Sky Sports customers. With capabilities to stream up to 100 live events simultaneously, it aims to make it easier for fans to follow their teams.
Do Sky Subscribers Need to Pay Extra?
No, existing Sky Sports subscribers will not be required to pay any extra fees. The new features will seamlessly integrate into their current Sky experience, available on Sky Glass, Sky Stream, Sky Q, and NOW.
How Can Non-Sky Subscribers Watch?
For those who do not have a Sky subscription, NOW Sports Day or Month Membership allows for instant, contract-free access to all Sky Sports channels. Starting in August, this membership will grant access to all live Sky Sports+ streams as well as on-demand catch-up content.
Which Games Will Be Live on Sky?
Sky Sports will showcase 10 live matches per weekend during the EFL season, including:
- Three Championship matches
- Two League One matches
- Two League Two matches
These matches are primarily broadcast at 12:30pm on Saturdays. Additionally, all opening weekends, final days, and midweek fixtures, along with Bank Holiday games (Easter, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day), will be available live. For the first time, every match of the Carabao Cup and Bristol Street Motors Trophy will also be streamed.
Will Fixtures Be Rescheduled?
While select matches may be rescheduled for broadcasting purposes, the majority of fixtures are expected to remain unchanged. This stability helps fans plan ahead without the worry of unexpected schedule changes.
What About the 3pm Blackout?
The regulation commonly known as the "3pm blackout", which restricts broadcasts of matches from 2:45 pm to 5:15 pm on Saturday afternoons, will still be in place. Therefore, most main broadcast fixtures will be scheduled outside of this time frame.
Final Thoughts
With the launch of Sky Sports+ and expanded EFL coverage, fans can look forward to an exciting season filled with live matches and enhanced viewing options. Whether you’re a die-hard supporter or just tuning in occasionally, there are plenty of ways to stay connected to your favorite teams.
